Designed to sustain
Travelling a long way with a conscious footprint?
Situated in the South Pacific, New Zealand relies on building sector imports every day. Many locally grown trees are transported overseas for processing then imported again into New Zealand.
We truly believe that we can have a clear conscience, importing these great products from Austria. To underline why, we have gathered some facts for you:
The slow growth of the European forests produces a very high-quality stable product. The basis of SUN WOOD 3-layer-panel products is PEFC-certified wood that is obtained exclusively from sustainably managed forests in Central Europe. Sustainable management means not only that you don’t have more wood harvested than re-growing but also that the forest remains a safe habitat for animals and plants. Read more here
Surface colours which are used in the finishing process comply with the GREENGUARD GOLD certificate and can be used in sensitive surroundings such as schools. Read more here
Handling the resources of wood consciously is a motivation for existence. Because we want to dress our dining room in exotic woods while protecting the rain forest. Better to reproduce the desired look than cutting real trees in precious forests.
According to the SUN WOOD motto “we design to sustain,” our partner in Austria reproduces exotic and rare woods true to the original and in a sustainable manner on new, domestic wood. In doing so, they not only protect valuable rare species, but also score points with versatility.
